who we are
AstroWatt is a coalition of space-focused student engineering teams at Heriot-Watt University. In 2025, the founding societies Heriot-Watt CanSat Team, Heriot-Watt Rocketry Society, Watts-Up, and Heriot-Satt realised that there was an unprecendented opportunity for knowledge and resource sharing across their respective societies, and so AstroWatt was born. By sharing PCB designs, software, and engineering resources, every member society gets to avoid reinventing the wheel and focusing on those elements of their mission that truly matters.
what we do
As a whole, AstroWatt helps co-ordinate funding, opportunities, and technical knowhow across member societies. We also perform educational outreach for local schools and science festivals, such as the event at the Dirleton Solar Walk in April this year!
We also develop new manufacturing and testing capacity for teams to use - whether it's custom body tubes for rockets and CanSats or building low-cost low-velocity wind tunnels, all the projects AstroWatt tackles are innovative and add to our capabilities.
